September 25, Fineko/abc.az. More than 80% of wheat imports from Azerbaijan accounts for Russia.
ABC.AZ reports that Namig Shalbuzov, deputy director of the Center for Agricultural Research at the Ministry of Agriculture of Azerbaijan, said about this at a conference on the theme "Sustainable food safety against climate change" in Baku.
"In 2023, Azerbaijan imported 1.175 million tons of wheat, including 1.22 million tons purchased in Russia and 153,000 tons - in Kazakhstan," he said.
Shalbuzov added that country's demand for wheat is about 2.8 million tons, of which 1.7 million tons are met by domestic production, and 1.1 million tons by imports.
