February 6, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijan purchased 6,200 tons of beef from foreign countries for a total of $24.4 million for Jan-Nov 2023.

ABC.AZ reports with reference to the State Statistics Committee that compared with Jan-Nov 2022 country’s meat imports in value terms grew by $11.105 million (83.6%) and in quantitative terms by 3,261 tons (2.1-fold).

Over Jan-Nov 2022, Azerbaijan bought 2,950 tons of meat for $13.3 million from abroad.

Out of the beef imported for Jan-Nov 2023, the country imported 1,080 tons of frozen meat for $4.131 million, the remaining pieces without bones for $20.266 million, 5,130 tons of frozen, separated from the bone, anterior half, whole or divided into no more than five pieces of meat.

In general, for the first 11 months of 2023, the average import price per 1 ton of beef was $3,928. Over Jan-Nov 2022, this figure reached $4,507 (decline of import prices by $578, or 12.8%, compared with the previous year).

This means that the import of 1 kg of beef in 2023 amounted to 6.68 manats, and for the same period in 2022 - 7.66 manats.
