November 16, Fineko/abc.az. Expansion of working women’ rights is planned in Azerbaijan.
ABC.AZ reports that relevant amendments are proposed to the Labor Code.
The draft amendments say that every year the World Bank publishes report "Women, Business & the Law", which analyzes the degree of influence of the norms and laws of each country on the work of women. In order to improve the country's rating, the main priority is to exclude from the Labor Code the norms that restrict women's employment opportunities, increase the ratio of the average monthly salary of women to the average monthly salary of men in the country, establish benefits for working women with children or provide them with favorable working conditions.
The amending document states that in order to address all these and other issues related to improving working conditions and expanding employment opportunities for women in Azerbaijan, there is a need to amend the country's Labor Code.
Under the amendments, women's rights are expanded in matters related to night shift work, overtime work and business trips.
The draft also envisages that pregnant women, mothers of children under the age of 14, as well as children with disabilities, can be engaged by employers to work at night, to overtime and business trips only with their written consent.
