Crop areas of potatoes and sugar beet has sharply reduced in Azerbaijan

July 3, Fineko/abc.az. Spring potatoes were planted in Azerbaijan on an area of 48,990 hectares and sugar beet on an area of 4,534.8 hectares for jan-May 2023.

ABC.AZ reports that according to the State Statistics Committee, potato acreage decreased by 10.4% or 5,691 hectares and sugar beet by 8.6% or 427.5 hectares against Jan-May 2022.

21,737.6 hectares of potatoes were planted in economic regions Gazakh-Tovuz, 10,122.5 hectares in Lankaran-Astara, 4,046 hectares in Guba-Khachmaz, 3,916.5 hectares in Sheki-Zagatala.

In the first 5 months of this year, 1,258.4 hectares of sugar beet were planted in Shirvan-Salyan economic region, 792.9 hectares in Central Aran economic region, and 428.8 hectares in Mil-Mugan economic region.
