Banks decreased demand by 30.7% at currency auction

February 28, Fineko/abc.az. The Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) held a currency auction with the participation of the State Oil Fund.

According to the CBA, at the currency auction on February 28, the demand of banks amounted to $42.7 million and was fully secured. This is $18.9 million or 30.7% less than at the last auction.

As a result of the auction, the weighted average exchange rate of the manat was formed at the level of 1.7000 AZN/USD.

At a foreign exchange auction on February 23, the CBA sold $61.6 million to banks.

In February 2023, currencies worth $356.5 million were sold to banks at currency auctions, which is 4% less than in February 2022 and 89% more than in January 2023.
