72% of cards in circulation support contactless payments

February 14, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijan observed growth of non-cash payments for 2022 and expansion of the use of contactless technologies and e-commerce, ABC.AZ reports with reference to CBA’s review for 2022.

As of 1 January 2023, there are 13.6 million payment cards in circulation in Azerbaijan, and 9.8 million or 72% of them support contactless payments. 87% of cards (11.8 million cards) are debit and 13% (1.8 million) are credit cards.

Compared with 2021, the number of payment cards grew by 19%, including contactless cards by 31%.
