January 5, Fineko/abc.az. The Government of Kazakhstan has allowed banks to export cash rubles from the republic on one-time basis to convert them into non-cash form, ABC.AZ reports with reference to the press service of the National Bank of Kazakhstan.
"By government’s decree, second-tier banks are allowed to export Russian rubles in cash from Kazakhstan on one-time basis. The resolution comes into force from the date of its signing and will be valid for 60 calendar days. The permit is being introduced to convert cash rubles into a non-cash form and replenish correspondent accounts by banks," the bank informs.
At that, the National Bank noted that at the moment the country's banks have various channels for conducting non-cash payments and money transfers using bank accounts, payment cards, as well as electronic wallets, which minimizes the risks of accumulating cash rubles.
On March 14, 2022, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed a decree on measures to ensure financial stability, which, in particular, implies a ban on the export of foreign currency worth more than $10,000 and gold bars from the republic.
