December 16, Fineko/abc.az. A different regime for paying interest on loans in Azerbaijan should be established in relation to the unemployed, families in which there are disabled people of groups I and II, persons in need of social benefits or assistance.

ABC.AZ reports that MP Azay Guliyev said about this at a Milli Majlis meeting.

“Serious reforms have been carried out in the country’s banking sector since 2015. A number of banks were deprived of their licenses, and all powers in this matter were transferred to the Azerbaijan Deposit Insurance Fund. But there are certain nuances. Decisions on loans issued by the now liquidated banks must be reconsidered, and this issue must be approached from a humane point of view. In 2009, the president of Azerbaijan signed a historic document related to problem loans, after which historic decisions were made on problem loans of tens of thousands of our citizens,” he said.

The MP proposed to forgive the interest on the loan to the unemployed, families with disabled people.

“If such a proposal is prepared and presented to the president, perhaps the problem will be considered at the highest level,” Guliyev stressed.
