October 6, Fineko/abc.az. The launch of the Trans-Caspian fiber-optic communication line connecting Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan along the bottom of the Caspian Sea is scheduled for October 2026.
The Minister of Digital Development of Kazakhstan, Jaslan Madiyev, said that a 390-km cable has already been laid between the coasts of Aktau and Sumgait.
This project, which will create a high-speed data transmission corridor between Asia and Europe, is going to increase the potential of digital transit and the reliability of international communications for both countries.
Besides, more than 4,000 5G base stations have been installed in Kazakhstan and the introduction of Direct-to-Cell technology has begun, providing direct satellite connection to smartphones.
