French Inflation Hits Two-Year High at 3.4%

14:43 - 30.09.2026

September 30, Fineko/abc.az. Annual inflation in France, the Eurozone's second-largest economy, surged from 2.6% in August to 3.4% in September, marking its highest level in two years. The data published by the national statistics agency Insee exceeded the Bloomberg consensus forecast of 3.2%.

The surge was primarily driven by energy costs, which spiked 21.1% year-on-year. The sharp price pressure increases expectations for further rate hikes by the European Central Bank (ECB), where key borrowing costs currently stand at 2.5%.
