September 29, Fineko/abc.az. According to WB report "Integration: Advanced Trade Logistics along the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor", the trade between the countries of the Middle Corridor may increase 1.5-fold in value terms by 2040 against 2023 and by 60% in physical terms.

However, high trading costs and institutional fragmentation along the route complicate the process.

The Bank warns that the complex multimodal route structure increases operational risks.

During the delivery process, 4-5 borders are crossed, the width of the railway track changes twice, cargo is reloaded up to 4-fold, and customs transit regimes are entered and exited up to 10-fold. The export basket is still dominated by hydrocarbons and raw materials, while the share of high-value-added goods is growing from comparatively low base.
