September 24, Fineko/abc.az. A US Federal Court has ruled that President Donald Trump's decision to ban journalists from CNN, MS NOW, and Politico from accessing the White House was unlawful.

The legal battle ensued after the three news organizations filed a lawsuit in a Washington federal court following the weekend restriction. The plaintiffs argued that the administration's actions violated constitutional protections for freedom of speech and the press, as well as due process rights, requesting an emergency injunction to restore their access while the lawsuit proceeded.

District Judge Tim Kelly ruled in favor of the media outlets, ordering the Trump administration to immediately return the journalists' press credentials and blocking officials from enforcing the ban for 14 days.

Furthermore, Judge Kelly rejected the government's defense that the ban was imposed due to "national security concerns." The court stated that there was no concrete evidence in the record demonstrating that revoking the press passes protected national security or that restoring them during the litigation would pose any threat. Trump had previously stated that the ban was triggered by the news outlets producing "fake and negative" reporting.
