August 28, Fineko/abc.az. According to data released by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), India's foreign exchange reserves rose by $12.4 billion in the week ending August 21 to reach an all-time high of $729.33 billion, surpassing the previous record of $728.5 billion set in February.

Measures introduced by the central bank since early June, including special deposit schemes for non-resident Indians, drove $728 billion in capital inflows. These inflows helped prevent an unprecedented third consecutive year of current account deficit.

Global reserves rankings show China in first place with $3.4 trillion, followed by Japan ($1.2 trillion), Switzerland ($953.5 billion), India, and Russia ($720 billion).
