August 19, Fineko/abc.az. The Walt Disney Company and its subsidiary ABC have filed a lawsuit against the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

The lawsuit, submitted to the Washington District Court, alleges that President Donald Trump's administration is conducting a retaliatory campaign over broadcast content. Disney management described the FCC's moves as an "existential threat."

Key Lawsuit Highlights:

  • Licensing Demand: In April, the FCC instructed eight Disney-owned TV stations to apply for early broadcast license renewals.

  • Trump’s Statements: The filing cites social media posts by Trump accusing late-night hosts of bias and questioning whether their licenses should be revoked.

  • Program Suspensions: In September 2025, ABC temporarily pulled Jimmy Kimmel's late-night show following White House backlash over political remarks made during his monologue.
