Azerbaijan's Fruit and Vegetable Exports Up by 16.3%

August 17, Fineko/abc.az. In January-July of this year, Azerbaijan exported 503.1 thousand tons of fruits and vegetables worth $589.2 million. According to the State Customs Committee, this represents an increase of $82.8 million (16.3%) in value and 12.5 thousand tons (2.5%) in volume compared to the same period last year.

During the reporting period, revenue from fruit and vegetable exports accounted for 3.05% of Azerbaijan's total export earnings.

In the first seven months, Azerbaijan also imported 214.6 thousand tons of fruits and vegetables valued at $193.7 million. This is an increase of $2.2 million (1.1%) in value, but a decrease of 33.8 thousand tons (13.6%) in volume year-on-year. Imports of these goods constituted 1.9% of the country's total import expenditures.

Azerbaijan's foreign trade turnover rose by 1.3% year-on-year in January-July, reaching $29.216 billion. Exports accounted for $19.336 billion, while imports stood at $9.881 billion. Over the past year, exports grew by 27% while imports dropped by 27.4%, generating a trade surplus of $9.455 billion—a 5.9-fold increase compared to the previous year.
