August 10, Fineko/abc.az. Kazakhstan's flag carrier, Air Astana, has reported its financial results for the first half of 2026.
Despite a 16.1% increase in revenue to $763.9 million, escalating operational costs pushed the airline into the red. Air Astana closed H1 with a net loss of $21.2 million, compared to a net profit of $10.7 million in the same period last year.
The financial downturn was primarily driven by elevated jet fuel prices at international airports, the strengthening of the Kazakhstani tenge against the US dollar, and additional maintenance and operational costs tied to issues with Pratt & Whitney engines. In Q2, the company recorded a net loss of $0.1 million, down from an $18.1 million profit a year earlier.
