August 10, Fineko/abc.az. Nvidia (NVDA.O) will invest up to $3 billion in energy infrastructure developer Lancium, the company behind the Stargate data center campus in Texas, according to a report by The Information.
The chipmaker will make an initial investment of $2 billion for roughly a 20% stake in Blackstone-backed Lancium. Nvidia could inject an additional $1 billion if Lancium meets specific milestones, including power grid connections. Under the terms of the deal, Lancium and its portfolio of land and power access are valued at an enterprise value of approximately $10 billion. The new capital is expected to fuel Lancium's growth as it evaluates a potential initial public offering (IPO) in 2027.
Stargate is a joint venture formed by SoftBank, OpenAI, and Oracle to construct AI data centers. Announced by U.S. President Donald Trump, the broader initiative envisages up to $500 billion in total funding for artificial intelligence infrastructure. Lancium owns the 1,000-acre Lancium Clean Campus in Abilene, Texas, which serves as the primary operational hub for the Stargate project.
