August 10, Fineko/abc.az. Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan made key remarks regarding current geopolitical developments, stating that the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement signed between Türkiye, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan is technically equivalent to Article 5 of the NATO Treaty on collective defense.

"Technically, it is the same. That is precisely why you establish a security pact. Countries decide to join such a ultimate alliance to benefit from each other's protective support," Fidan noted.

The Foreign Minister further emphasized that the agreement is not targeted at any country, adding, "No country that does not attack us is our target." He highlighted that Türkiye, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan do not pursue expansionist policies, focusing instead on internal development within their borders and contributing positively to regional stability through good neighborly relations.
