August 4, Fineko/abc.az. According to Allianz Trade’s "Metals Sector Report," Turkey’s basic metals and metal products industry is projected to reach a market volume of $208 billion in 2026, driven by recovering global demand and strategic capital investments.
The report highlights that global metals and mining production is set to reach $9.6 trillion in 2025 and $10.4 trillion in 2026. Turkey is forecast to record an annual sector growth rate of 14.4% in 2026.
Key Report Highlights:
Steel Production: Turkey, the world’s 7th largest steel producer in 2024 with 36.9 million tons, is expected to expand crude steel output to 38.1 million tons in 2025 and 40.8 million tons in 2026.
Non-Ferrous Metals (Copper & Aluminum): Projected as the most dynamic sub-segment with a 20% annual growth rate, pushing gross production to $40.9 billion in 2026.
Mining Industry: Driven by investments in gold, copper, and boron, the mining sector's output is expected to hit $18.2 billion in 2026.
Capital Expenditures (CapEx): Industry capital spending is forecast to rise to $17.8 billion.
Altuğ Karagöz, Deputy General Manager at Allianz Trade Turkey, noted that the firm expanded its risk guarantee volume for the industry by 25% to €677 million. By 2028, Turkey’s gross metals output is projected to top $227 billion, consolidating its position among the world's top 10 steelmakers.
