August 3, Fineko/abc.az. China's State Council has approved the construction of 8 new nuclear reactors across four nuclear power projects, with a total estimated investment exceeding 170 billion yuan ($25.2 billion).

According to state media, two power generation units will be constructed in each of the following provinces: Zhejiang, Guangdong, Liaoning, and Shandong.

• Track Record: In 2025, China approved 10 new nuclear power units with an estimated total investment of nearly 200 billion yuan.

• Global Leadership: As of April 2026, China's total installed nuclear capacity reached 125 GW, comprising 60 operational reactors and 36 under construction, securing the top rank globally.
