July 27, Fineko/abc.az. Shares of Chinese memory chip manufacturer ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT) surged 5.7-fold during their trading debut on Shanghai's tech-heavy STAR Market. The company raised a record-breaking 66.6 billion yuan ($9.8 billion)—the largest onshore Chinese IPO since SMIC's listing in 2020—pushing its market capitalization to 3.3 trillion yuan ($490 billion).

CXMT aims to challenge global rivals Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron amid the ongoing artificial intelligence boom and tight DRAM chip supplies, with its memory modules already being evaluated by Apple. Controlling roughly 8% of the global market, the chipmaker plans to deploy the proceeds to expand production capacity and accelerate advanced process node development.
