July 25, Fineko/abc.az. Paramount Skydance Corporation has agreed to pause its $110 billion acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery until a federal court rules on the merits of an antitrust lawsuit, or until June 1, 2027. The stipulation was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California following legal challenges led by a coalition of state attorneys general.

Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser stated that combining the two Hollywood juggernauts would eliminate critical market competition, inflicting substantial economic harm on independent movie theaters, basic cable distributors, and audiences nationwide. While European Union regulators recently cleared the merger, the U.S. legal challenge halts the deal.

Under the agreement terms, the delay will trigger ticking fees forcing Paramount to pay Warner Bros. shareholders approximately $650 million every 90 days starting October 1 until the transaction closes.
