July 22, Fineko/abc.az. Apple is preparing to launch a leasing program for its gadgets, Bloomberg reports with reference to sources.
The launch of Apple Upgrade is scheduled for July 28. It will affect most models of iPhone, Mac, iPad and Apple Watch. The financial partner of the program will be Klarna Group, the agency's interlocutors say.
Its shares rose by 11% against this information, to $20.78.
The Apple Upgrade service will be launched in the U.S. in stores and online via subscription. Users will be able to pay off the device early, upgrade it or buy it out, as well as return it at the end of the term. Leasing will be 24 months for iPhone and Apple Watch and 36 months for Mac and iPad, with a mandatory credit history check.
The program does not include AppleCare and does not apply to all devices, and is not available for corporate and educational purchases. Apple is promoting the service as a way to reduce monthly payments amid rising prices, and it is implementing it in conjunction with Klarna to avoid financial risks.
