July 21, Fineko/abc.az. Currently, there are no serious changes or problems in the geography of road transportation.
Kanan Gurbanov, the General Secretary of the Azerbaijan Association of International Road Carriers (ABADA), says that the main problems in transportation through Iran related to cargo owners, freight forwarding companies, manufacturers, raw material exporters, and product importers.
"Due to the problems that have arisen at the port of Bandar Abbas, cargo owners and freight forwarding companies may suffer certain losses. At the same time, manufacturers, exporters of raw materials, and importers of products are experiencing difficulties. However, there have been no serious problems in the field of road transport," he added.
Gurbanov noted that the activities of Azerbaijani carriers are mainly limited to the border regions of Iran: "Azerbaijani carriers mainly accept cargo through the Bilyasuvar and Astara border checkpoints and transport it in transit to Russia. Nearly 80 percent of our carriers operating in the Iranian direction use this route."
He emphasized that Azerbaijani carriers do not engage in extensive activities in the interior regions of Iran or in the direction of the Persian Gulf.
"If we don't take into account maritime and railway transportation, there were no significant problems in the field of road transport. If we said the opposite, it wouldn't be true," Gurbanov said.
