July 10, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijan has expanded the list of production activities exempt from customs duties.
This is reflected in the proposed amendments to the Law on Customs Tariff, submitted for discussion at today's Milli Majlis meeting.
According to the draft law, if at least 50% of the volume of goods of Azerbaijani origin, fully produced or sufficiently processed in accordance with the criteria of processing by a legal entity of in the Alat Free Economic Zone, are exported outside Azerbaijan, and the list of goods in the commodity nomenclature of foreign economic activity is approved by the body (structure) determined by the relevant executive authority, is imported from the Alat FEZ into the main economy in accordance with the procedure established by the body (structure) determined by the relevant executive authority, then such goods are exempt from customs duties for 15 years from the date of establishment of the FEZ legal entity that produces or processes goods.
The bill was prepared in order to create favorable conditions for raising investments to the Alat FEZ and preserving competitiveness of goods produced in this territory.
