Unemployment in EU: the largest increase recorded in Greece

July 6, Fineko/abc.az. In the 1st quarter of 2026, Greece saw the largest increase in unemployment in the EU, according to the European Statistical Office (Eurostat).

From January to March, the unemployment rate increased by 2.4 percentage points, from 8.3% to 10.7%. The 2nd place in terms of growth rates belongs to Denmark and Finland, where unemployment increased by 1.1 p.p. It reached 7.4% and 10.8%, respectively.

The indicator on Spain (3rd place) grew by 0.9 p.p. up to 10.8%. Estonia holds the 4th place: plus 0.7 p.p. - to 7.1%.
