July 3, Fineko/abc.az. A trilateral protocol on the further development of the western route of the International North–South Transport Corridor has been signed in Moscow between Russia, Azerbaijan, and Iran.
The parties announced an increase in cargo flow through the Astara border crossing. In June of this year, the volume of transportation reached 47.5 thousand tons, which is 50% more compared to the same period last year. Based on the results of the first half of the year, shipments in the southern direction increased by approximately 27%, while Russian grain exports to Iran exceeded last year's figure by more than 4 times.
The meeting participants also agreed on establishing a unified digital transport corridor, standardizing electronic data exchange, and phasing out paper-based documentation.
