July 2, Fineko/abc.az. Rising food and beverage prices in Japan this year are expected to affect 20,000 items for the second year in a row, ABC.AZ reports, referring to newspaper The Asahi Shimbun.
During a survey conducted by consulting firm Teikoku Databank Ltd. A survey of 195 of the largest manufacturers on the reasons driving them to raise prices found that 92.5% of companies cited higher raw material costs, 71.9% cited logistics costs, and 69.8% cited packaging and other materials.
All of these factors are subject to the impact of rising crude oil prices, indicating that companies are reflecting the rising costs of the Middle East conflict in product prices.
Broken down by category, processed food products, such as frozen foods, accounted for the largest number of planned price increases. This was followed by condiments, alcoholic beverages, and non-alcoholic beverages.
