June 24, Fineko/abc.az. Oman has announced on Tuesday that it has jointly with the International Maritime Organization (IMO) established a temporary maritime corridor for ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz, ABC.AZ reports, referring to the state news agency.
Ships wishing to use the temporary corridor must coordinate their route with the IMO based on the coordinates provided by the organization and the Omani authorities, according to agency's report.
The initiative aims to ensure the freedom of navigation through this strategically important waterway in accordance with international law and maritime regulations that guarantee freedom of passage without the imposition of transit fees.
