June 19, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijan is experiencing a sharp decline in egg prices across the country.
According to ABC.AZ, eggs that were retailing for 9 to 17 qapiks apiece until recently have now dropped to 3–4 qapiks in supermarkets. In an even more drastic move, some retail chains are running aggressive discounts, offering eggs for as low as 1 qapik per piece.
Industry experts state that this steep price drop is driven by seasonal factors:
Drop in Demand: Egg consumption traditionally sees a significant decline during the summer months.
Surge in Supply: Conversely, egg production typically increases during this time of the year.
Additionally, a slowdown in egg exports from Azerbaijan is also highly likely to have contributed to the market surplus and subsequent price collapse.
