Electricity production in Turkey increased, with hydro power plants leading

June 17, Fineko/abc.az. In April, electricity production in Turkey increased by 1.19% compared to the same month last year, exceeding 25 million MWh. Hydroelectric power plants (HPPs) made the primary contribution, accounting for 46.6% of the total generation.

According to ABC.AZ, electricity consumption in the country grew by 6.24% during the reporting period, reaching 23.19 million MWh. In terms of consumption structure, the largest shares were claimed by the industrial sector (41.7%) and the residential sector (29.6%).

The installed capacity of Turkey's power plants also expanded by 3.19%, reaching 100.5 GW, with gas-fired generation and hydropower remaining dominant in the total capacity mix.
