June 17, Fineko/abc.az. The number of new companies being created in Azerbaijan has decreased. Thus, for Jan-May 2026, 910 commercial organizations passed state registration, which is nearly 85.4% less than the 6,236 commercial structures registered for Jan-May 2025.

ABC.AZ reports with reference to the State Tax Service that at the same time, the share of companies with foreign investments increased from 10.9% to 11.8%.

As of June 1, 2026, the total number of taxpayers in the republic reached 1,709,921. 86.8% of them are individuals and 13.2% - legal entities and other organizations. Compared with Jan-May 2025, the total number of taxpayers grew by 5.2%, the number of individuals by 5.1%, and legal entities by 5.9%.

By the end of Jan-May 2026, the number of registered commercial organizations was 209,205. In May, 88.2% of the 910 registered commercial organizations had local capital and 11.8% had foreign investments.

84.3% of new commercial organizations were registered electronically. For Jan-May 2026, the share of e-registration among limited liability companies with local investments was 97.1%.

As of June 1, 92.2% of registered commercial legal entities operated in the form of limited liability company.
