June 9, Fineko/abc.az. Turkey and Saudi Arabia have signed a memorandum of cooperation in Riyadh on rail transport, which outlines the restoration and development of the historic Hejaz railway line.
ABC.AZ reports that the project envisions the creation of a rail corridor linking Saudi Arabia to Turkey via Jordan and Syria, with a long-term potential extension to Oman and the Indian Ocean.
The route is being positioned as a strategic trade alternative designed to bypass the Strait of Hormuz.
