May 20, Fineko/abc.az. Turkey and China signed an agreement in Beijing on expanding cooperation in combating climate change, developing clean energy and sustainable infrastructure. The priorities are urban planning, housing and the formation of the agenda for the COP31 summit in Antalya.
ABC.AZ reports that the parties confirmed similar climate goals - achieving carbon neutrality (Turkey by 2053, China by 2060) - and an emphasis on the practical implementation of projects. Discussions touched upon the reconstruction of housing after the earthquakes in Turkey, development of sustainable cities and attraction of financing.
Large Chinese and international institutions, including the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank and the Silk Road Fund, are joining the cooperation. The focus is on investments in renewable energy, urban sustainability, and mechanisms to support climate initiatives.
