Baku Shipyard signs agreement with a Kazakh company

May 4, Fineko/abc.az. yard LLC and Kazakh company KTZ Express Shipping, part of Samruk-Kazyna JSC, signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of shipbuilding.

ABC.AZ informs that according to the document, it is planned to fabricate two dry cargo vessels in accordance with modern international standards.

At the ceremony it was noted that the project is important both from angle of demonstrating technological capabilities and from angle of developing the shipbuilding industry in Azerbaijan. Nurlan Zhakupov, the chairman of board at Samruk-Kazyna,  noted that development of the marine infrastructure is continuation of systematic work on ex[ansion of transit potential of Kazakhstan: The formation of Kazakhstan Railways’ own fleet increases the stability of the Trans-Caspian route, expands cargo transportation opportunities and creates additional conditions for attracting international partners. Cooperation is becoming particularly relevant at a time of increasing freight traffic along the middle corridor. Amid increasing international orders, the project will not only accelerate development of the domestic shipbuilding industry, but also serve to increase shipyard’s production capacity and strengthen its competitiveness."
