April 30, Fineko/abc.az. Three consecutive non-working days are expected in Azerbaijan in connection with Victory over Fascism Day (May 9).
In 2026, May 9 falls on Saturday. According to the Labor Code, if a public holiday coincides with a weekend, the day off is transferred to the next working day. Since May 10 falls on Sunday, the additional day off will be observed on May 11. Thus, May 9–11 will be consecutive non-working days.
Five consecutive non-working days are also expected later in May due to Gurban Bayram and Independence Day.
According to the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers dated December 2, 2025, Gurban Bayram will be observed on May 27 and 28 in 2026. Independence Day (May 28) is also a non-working day. Under the Labor Code, when a public holiday coincides with another non-working holiday, the following working day is declared a day off.
As a result, May 29 will also be a non-working day. Since May 30 and 31 fall on Saturday and Sunday, respectively, May 27–31 will form a five-day consecutive holiday period.
