November 14, Fineko/abc.az. Over Jan-Sept the average monthly salary in Azerbaijan increased by 2.8% up to 540.5 manats.

The State Statistics Committee reports that wages of employees of the extractive industry, the financial and insurance sector, professional, scientific and technical activity, information & communications, transport and warehousing, and construction sector are even higher.

"As of 1 October, the number of employees in the country increased by 1.7% up to 1.552 million people. Most of them (883,200 people) are working in the public sector and 669,500 people in the private sector," the Committee informed.
