November 24, Fineko/abc.az. In the first 9 months of 2025, a significant decrease in both volume and value was recorded on the export of alcoholic beverages, cognac and whiskey in Azerbaijan.
ABC.AZ informs that for Jan-Sept 2025, the country exported 199,410 decaliters of cognac for $7.69 million (a drop of nearly 27% against Jan-Sept 2024).
In value terms, exports fell to $7.7 million (in 2024 - $9.5 million). The situation with the main buying countries has also changed.
Although Russia is still the leader in cognac exports, exports fell from 103,200 to 98,000 decaliters.
Exports to Kazakhstan declined from 62,100 to 61,400 decaliters with a slight decrease. The sharpest decline was observed in the direction of Spain - exports, which reached 100,000 decaliters last year, have fallen to 36,800 decaliters this year.
A sharper decline occurred in whiskey exports. Exports, which amounted to 237,500 decaliters in the three quarters of 2024, fell to 108,000 decaliters in 2025. The cost reduction ranges from $7.1 million to $2.8 million.
Almost all whiskey exports are still focused on the Russian market. In 2025, exports to Russia decreased from 236,000 decaliters to 106,000 decaliters.
