Azerbaijan's trade turnover with US increased by 60% in first quarter

In January–June of this year, trade turnover between Azerbaijan and the United States increased by 60% compared to the same period last year, said Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov at a special meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers dedicated to President Ilham Aliyev’s visit to Washington, APA-Economics reports.

The minister noted that the contractual and legal framework of Azerbaijan-U.S. economic relations consists of 87 documents signed over the past period:

 “In 2007, the Azerbaijan-U.S. Economic Partnership Commission was established as an institutional mechanism of cooperation between the two countries. The most recent (4th) meeting of the Commission was held in Baku on May 17, 2019. Azerbaijan-U.S. trade cooperation has developed along an upward trajectory in recent years. Thus, in 2024, trade turnover amounted to 1.7 billion U.S. dollars, including 1.6 billion in imports and 135 million in exports. Compared to 2023, trade turnover in 2024 increased by 94%. During this period, the United States ranked 5th in Azerbaijan’s foreign trade turnover overall, 4th in imports, and 24th in exports.”

It should be noted that according to the State Customs Committee, in the first quarter of this year, trade turnover between Azerbaijan and the United States amounted to 593.703 million U.S. dollars, of which 38.0632 million accounted for exports and 555.64 million for imports.
