June 21, Fineko/abc.az. Fujitsu and the RIKEN Institute presented the world's largest quantum computer on superconducting qubits — 256 instead of the promised 100.

ABC.AZ informs that the new system is based on a unique cluster and three-dimensional architecture, which made it possible to increase the density of qubits without increasing the size.

The development was an important step towards creating a fault-tolerant quantum computer capable of replacing classical supercomputers in a number of tasks. The system is already available in the cloud for a limited number of users, and a 1000-bit platform is to be launched in 2026.
