April 8, Fineko/abc.az. For the first time in Azerbaijan, the government will provide support for the sale of domestic products related to the non-oil/gas sector on international platforms, ABC.AZ reports, referring to the Azerbaijan Export & Investment Promotion Foundation (AZPROMO).
The amount of support will make up 70% of the costs (no more than 7,000 manats) incurred for the sale on the platforms. In this regard, a draft of additions and amendments has been developed to the "Procedure for determining and regulating the mechanism for paying part of the expenses incurred from the state budget for organizing export missions to foreign countries and buyer missions to Azerbaijan, research and marketing activities in foreign markets, promoting the "Made in Azerbaijan" brand in foreign markets, obtaining local international export certification companies, research and development programs and projects related to exports", approved by the presidential decree dated October 5, 2016. The project is currently being coordinated with the relevant authorities. It provides for a mechanism to "support the organization of sales of non-oil products on international electronic trading platforms".
In order to promote the export of local non-oil products on international e-commerce platforms, a memorandum of understanding was signed between AZPROMO and the Chinese e-commerce portal Alibaba.com. This collaboration will allow domestic manufacturers and exporters to offer their products to a wider global audience through an international e-commerce platform. Within the Memorandum, an agreement was reached to promote products of Azerbaijani origin on global markets, provide exporters with access to foreign digital trading platforms and carry out other work in this direction.
