April 2, Fineko/abc.az. Meta's vice president for AI research Joelle Pinault has announced her retirement from the company. Her last working day at Meta will be on May 30, she said in a post on LinkedIn.
ABC.AZ informs that Pino's departure comes at an important time for Meta, as CEO Mark Zuckerberg has made AI one of company's top priorities, investing billions of dollars in this area while trying to keep up with competitors such as OpenAI and Google.
Pinault has been the leader of company's fundamental AI research division, FAIR, since 2023, where she led cutting-edge scientific projects. Among the key projects she has been involved in are open Llama and PyTorch for AI developers.
Commenting on her departure, Pinault noted that "it's time to give way to others so that they can continue their work". She expressed confidence that Meta has everything it needs to create the best AI systems in the world.
