Finland does not intend to open its border with Russia yet

April 1, Fineko/abc.az. Finland will consider the possibility of opening the border with Russia no earlier than the end of 2025.

ABC.AZ informs that this will be possible only after the European Union makes appropriate decisions regarding political relations with the Russian Federation.

"If the EU resumed political relations with Russia, Finland could, according to sources, consider negotiations on the eastern border with Russia at the political level," Ilta-Sanomat writes.

The newspaper also clarifies that the softening of the border policy may not occur until the end of this year.

In addition, the presented data emphasize that any changes will occur gradually, starting with the possibility of cargo transportation and ending with the free movement of tourists. At that, sources confirm that despite preparations for the opening of the border, Finland has no plans to do so in the near future.
