March 6, Fineko/abc.az. The Ukrainian army is the second largest in Europe after Russia.

ABC.AZ reports that this is evidenced by the data published by the Bild publication.

According to the infographic of the publication, Russia has the largest army in Europe – 1.3 million military personnel. Top 3 by number includes Ukraine (900,000) and Turkey (355,000).

According to this indicator, the Russian army corresponds to the American one. If we compare the armies of the Russian Federation and the U.S. in other parameters, Russia has more tanks (5,750 versus 4,640), but fewer combat aircrafts (1,520 versus 2,680).

In total, NATO countries have 3.6 million troops, 7,500 tanks and 4,500 combat aircraft.

"Economically, European countries are so superior to Russia that Putin simply will not be able to compete if they decide to increase military spending. Russia spends, according to various estimates, from 7% to 10% of GDP on the army. For comparison, the maximum figure among the EU countries is 4.2%, [...] and the Russian economy has already been fully transferred to military rails," Bild writes.
