March 6, Fineko/abc.az. An extraordinary fraudulent scheme aimed at Russian users was discovered by experts from Kaspersky GReAT (Kaspersky Lab's Global Threat Research & Analysis Center).

ABC.AZ reports that an active campaign to distribute a hidden miner for PCs under the guise of blocking circumvention tools based on deep traffic analysis (DPI) has been discovered on YouTube. Moreover, both bloggers and their subscribers became victims.

In their scheme, the attackers use YouTube bloggers with suitable topics, tricking them into publishing links to infected archives.

If a person downloaded an archive from the site via a link, a Trojan was installed on his device, along with the claimed tools. He downloaded SilentCryptoMiner, a hidden miner that uses the power of infected computers to obtain different types of cryptocurrencies.
