January 9, Fineko/abc.az. A raging forest fire has forced NASA to temporarily close its leading center for planetary exploration using automated spacecraft.
ABC.AZ informs that speech is about the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), which is located at the foot of the San Gabriel Mountains north of Los Angeles. Hundreds of employees of the research center were evacuated from their homes, and as of January 9, 400 hectares had already been burned out.
JPL is funded by the federal budget, but is managed by the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) in Pasadena. The lab manages a number of important NASA scientific expeditions, including the Perseverance and Curiosity rovers, as well as the Europa Clipper interplanetary probe, which was recently launched to explore Europa, an oceanic satellite of Jupiter.
