Microsoft invests $80 bn in data centers for AI

January 6, Fineko/abc.az. Microsoft plans to invest about $80 bn in fiscal year 2025 in the creation of data centers based on artificial intelligence (AI).

ABC.AZ informs that Microsoft vice chairman and president Brad Smith said that artificial intelligence is the electricity of the current century, and the next four years can lay the foundation for the economic success of the U.S. for the next quarter of a century.

Smith noted that AI promises to drive innovation and boost productivity in all sectors of the economy.

"Today, the U.S. is leading the global AI race thanks to private capital investment and innovation from American companies of all sizes," Smith said.

According to Smith, in fiscal year 2025, Microsoft plans to invest about $80 bn in building AI-based data centers to train AI models and deploy AI and cloud applications.

More than half of the investments will be directed to the infrastructure of the U.S.," he added.
