At least 20 electric vehicle charging points to be created in liberated territories

October 18, Fineko/abc.az. It is planned to create at least 20 electric vehicle charging stations in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan.

ABC.AZ reports that this is stated in an article by Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov, published in newspaper ‘Azerbaijan’.

The minister noted that in accordance with the presidential decree Aliyev "On stimulating the use of vehicles with an electric motor", it is planned to create 77 charging points in Baku and its surroundings, 70 on main highways, and at least 20 in the liberated territories.

Shahbazov stressed that within the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), which will be held in Baku this November, the Azerbaijani side will present the National Plan for Electric Mobility. This Plan includes two phases: the first, designed for 2024-2027, and the second, for the period after 2027.

He pointed out that at the first stage, it is planned to create a basic infrastructure for electric mobility in Azerbaijan and form a regulatory framework. The second stage includes the development of infrastructure, including through the involvement of the private sector in this process.
