During the meeting with APM Terminals Poti CEO Christian Roeder, Kazakh Transport Minister Marat Karabayev discussed development of transport infrastructure within the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), ABC.AZ reports, referring to the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan.
“On October 9, Minister Karabayev held a meeting with Christian Roeder, CEO of APM Terminals Poti. The main topic of the meeting was discussion of increasing the cargo transportation and development of transport infrastructure within TITR,” the Ministry says.
Karabayev also stressed a significant increase in traffic volumes along the Middle Corridor by 70% in the first 9 months of 2024, which amounted to 3.4 million tons.
Speaking about development of the Middle Corridor, Karabayev pointed to growth of container traffic, which reached 34,600 TEU in 8 months of 2024, a 3-fold rise against the 2023 same term. Also, for Jan-Aug 2024, transit of containers from China increased more than 20-fold.
“The parties expressed their readiness for further cooperation, “which will strengthen transport links between Kazakhstan and APM Terminals, as well as ensure growth of container traffic via Trans-Caspian route,” the Ministry says.
APM Terminals Poti| Poti Sea Port Corporation is located in the city of Poti, Georgia, and represents a key transport hub on the Black Sea coast.
