July 16, Fineko/abc.az. As of June 1, 2024, the number of employees totaled 1,749,400 people.

ABC.AZ reports that 893,100 of them worked in the public sector of the economy and 856,300 in the non–governmental sector.

31,900 people are employed in the oil & gas sector of the economy and 1,717,500 people in the non-oil/gas sector.

22.9% of employees in enterprises and organizations are employed in the field of production, including 7.3% in manufacturing, 6.8% in construction, 3.3% in agriculture, forestry and fishing, 2% in water supply, waste treatment and recycling, 1.9% in mining and 1.6% - in the production, distribution and supply of electricity, gas and steam.

Of those employed in the service sector, 18.9% worked in education, 18.6% in trade and vehicle repair, 8.4% in health and social services for the population, and 6.4% worked in public administration and defense; social security, 4.9% administrative and support services, 4.3% in the field of transport and warehousing, 3.8% were engaged in professional, scientific and technical activities, 3.1% in the field of recreation, entertainment and art, 2.5% in the field of tourist accommodation and catering, 2.2% in the field of financial and insurance activities, 1.9% in the field of information and communications, 1.1% in the field of real estate transactions and 1% in other areas.
